It’s a Demanding Game
Gwyneth and Clarice, on behalf of Club Members, give a long list of demands to DaveH, the Club Secretary, that includes: all ice creams in the freezer must have a chocolate coating; any bowler over 6′ tall must bowl whilst on their knees when playing a bowler who is 5′ 2″ in height or shorter in order to negate any perspective/view/reach advantage; and, all cushions must be 6-inches in depth with a waterproof cover so they can also be used in the rain.
Listen to the Band
No, not the internationally famous Monkees singing one of their best known songs, but perhaps almost as famous – it’s The Llandudno Town Band. The Band will be performing in the Bandstand on the Promenade every Sunday and Monday evening during the summer from 19:30 to 20:30 (up to, and including, Monday 28th August 2023). But, before you go and see them tonight, why not pop along in the afternoon to the Vardre Deganwy bowling green to watch the Ladies Friendly versus Rhos-on-Sea Bowling Club. Play starts at 1:30pm.

DaveL: OK Dave, but how about this one: Why does the advantage lie with the Dog Star?
DaveH: Don’t know Dave, why?
DaveL: Because, while the comet is a transitory affair, the Dog Star is a real sky(e) terrier.

Green Closed 1st August
The green will be closed today – Tuesday 1st August – from 9:00am until midday and then again in the afternoon between about 4:00pm and 5:00pm.
This is for important work to the green to get it in the best possible condition for the rest of the season. So, the good news is that the green will be open between midday and 4:00pm and again after 5:00pm although it might still be a bit tacky after being sprayed. Apologies for the late notice. Ian
