Our Clwydian League ‘B’ Team had another good win yesterday, keeping them at the top of their Division by 10-points, with just one more match to go before the season ends. That means they need to win 3-games in that final match to guarantee winning the Division Title for 2023 as the second placed team is currently 10-points behind. Promotion to the ‘B’ Division in 2024 was guaranteed with today’s win. Congratulations to Captains Carol & John Barrington and the whole team.

What a Pair
Ian and Shan took part in the Welsh Crown Green Bowling Association Mixed Pairs Competition yesterday that was held at Rhos-on-Sea Bowling Club. They dived into their first match and emerged the winners. In their Quarter Final game, it was even more exciting, with the score at 19:19 the only question was: how is it going to end? Sadly, their opponents managed to pip them at the post and so progressed to the semi-final and then they won the Final. The rain and cold sent most of the spectators home before both the Final and the 3rd-place play-off took place. Both finalist pairs, plus the 3rd-place-playoff winners, now progress to the National Finals in England, to be held in a few weeks time. Well done to both Shan and Ian (no autograph hunters please).
Can You Eat a Lot?
Major League Eating is a US professional league of eating contests. Yesterday, one of their events was held in the UK for the very first time at Seal Bay, Selsey, West Sussex. A dozen competitors had 10-minutes to eat as many hot dogs in buns as possible. The winner managed to eat 34! The winner will also participate in the Coney Island (USA) event in 2024.
Eye Eye
Our local female Sparrowhawk turned up last night, scanning the local area for a tasty pigeon.

Uh oh. She’s spotted the photographer. Note to self: try not to look like a pigeon.
An Occasional Item: Rules of Bowls
Rule 10.1: Electronic devices, e.g. mobile phones, pagers, smart watches, etc., in active mode are not allowed on the green. Should a player fail to comply, that player shall forfeit the game. The offender(s) to receive no further score and the opponent(s) shall receive the maximum score.
Sylvia has invented a Bluetooth jack so she can listen to her favourite music whilst playing a game, but it still comes in (probably) under the Rule 10.1. Maybe she could argue that the active device sending the music signal to the Bluetooth device (the receiver) is in her handbag that is off the green. Good try though. Perhaps we need a Referee’s view on this?

Not quite the same ring as the sort of similarly named Elton John/Bernie Taupin song. However, Captain Ian (‘A’ Team) reminisces about his best laid plans for 2023 (Click Here).
