Pressed-At-Inn

For Captain Ian’s report from Saturday’s match at Prestatyn Click Here. The roads were nice and clear in both directions travelling to and from the game so school holidays were not yet having an impact on journeys for league matches on Saturdays.

Whether the Weather is Hot

Take care folks over the next few days. Weather warnings abound but keep up to date with the forecast on the BBC website. Please make sure you use some sunscreen, remember your bottle of water and don’t rush around too much on those greens. A hat or parasol is also highly recommended.

Fiendishly Friendly

Lots of people attended the Friendly at Craig y Don Bowling Green yesterday which gave a perfect opportunity for many of our newer members to play doubles competitively in a friendly environment. It was also a chance for them to learn about playing on another green, against supportive opponents, who also valued new players in the sport, no matter what club they played for.

Our thanks to Shan and others for organising the event and to everyone at Craig y Don. We all needed the help and support of others when each of us started out playing crown green bowls and, without that help and support, we would not be where we are now – still practising and trying to improve our skills! A lifetime’s work of fun and achievement.

If you haven’t yet played in a Friendly, why not give it a go at the next one?

Help Is At Hand (Hopefully)

We have been asked to host three matches as part of the week-long Conwy Bowls Festival. Top players will be at the green on: Monday, 1st August from 12.30pm ‘til 5pm Tuesday; 2nd August from 9.30pm ‘til 1pm; and, Wednesday, 3rd August from 4.30pm ‘til 9pm (approx. times).

We are looking for some help to make these events a success and if you could give us a few hours of your time to help either serving tea/coffee and biscuits or to ‘do tapes’ that would be really helpful.

You can let me know and/or there will be notice in the clubhouse so that you can put your name on any of the dates that you are available.

Your help is appreciated. Dave H, Club Secretary

B’ There

Message from Ian: “Through an uneven number of Clubs in a division, or a late withdrawal by a Club from the initial fixtures, our B team is subject to a BYE on both Tuesday and Wednesday this week. Quite a rare occurrence, but members of our B team are fantastic supporters of our other sides, so we may well see them present at other venues during the next 3-4 days.

Also, if not already selected, the Ladies have a home fixture on Monday afternoon, and they can always sign up for the Doubles friendly on Thursday this week, away at the Craig y Don green. All details on the Club notice-boards.”
