Some club members are participating in the winter bowling leagues at Betws yn Rhos. At this stage of the season the teams are doing quite well. The Vardre week-day league team is 2nd in their division at the three-quarter stage of the season; just going one-point behind the lead team that includes a Vardre member; and, the Fingers and Thumbs Saturday doubles team (members from more than one club) is in 4th place at the halfway point in their season.
Just a Word On the Shortest Day
Tomorrow
Tomorrow, 21st December 2024, will be the shortest day of the year with the Winter Solstice occurring in the UK at 9:23am. The shortest day means, of course, it also has the longest night of the year. The great news is that for the next 6-months, the days will be getting longer. Yay!
Click Here to visit the English Heritage website to find out how you could be celebrating this year’s winter solstice at sunrise tomorrow.
Look See
There are some fun events on over the next few days if you’re looking for a diversion from cleaning the house or watching TV. Click Here to go to the Visit Conwy website and take a look at your options.

Llandudno Pier
As you know, Llandudno Pier suffered an estimated £250k damage from Storm Darragh last weekend. A GoFundMe page has been set up seeking donations to help fund the very much needed repairs. The pier will be 150 years of age in 2027. Do go and take a look at the page as donations are storming in along with some lovely words from donors.
Hats Off

Paraskevidekatriaphobia
Yes, it’s Friday 13th today. Click Here to read the BBC’s article on the possible origins of this superstition. And the above heading = Fear of Friday 13th. Hopefully it won’t be unlucky for those of us having our bowls club’s Christmas Lunch today!
