Guess What?
It’s Membership Fees Due time. This year’s fee will be £65 with an additional fee of £5 for those who want to register with the BCGBA in order to play in the leagues in 2025. Therefore, it will be a total of £70 for league players or £65 for non-league players.
The club prefers payment by BACS so, if you paid this way last year, then for existing members the bank details are still probably stored in your bank account. Otherwise, pay by cheque or contact the Club Secretary via our Contact Us page on the website.

It’s Bowling Time Again
The Betws yn Rhos Winter Weekly League recommences in February and the Saturday Doubles was cancelled on 11th January due to the very cold weather conditions. Now the weather has changed and is warming up (slowly), players signed up for Craig y Don’s winter green can get in some much needed play.

Comrades
Bowlers at 61 council-operated crown greens in Leeds are currently faced with the threat of the number of crown greens in their area to be reduced by about half. The city council is undertaking a local public consultation, which is open until 26th January, asking whether to reduce the number of greens or to keep them all open and increase the cost of season tickets to players. Click Here to read the BBC’s article on this news item. We all understand the health benefits of playing bowls.
A Bit of a Battle
Looking for something to do later this month? The 25th January is when The Battle of Nantwich commemorates ‘Holly Holy Day’ – January 25, 1644 – when the Roundheads defeated the Cavaliers in a fierce Civil War clash. The day’s festivities begin at 10am with morris dancers, tours and exhibitions, and a demonstration of muskets, pikes and drums in the town centre, with the opportunity to throw cabbage leaves at an unfortunate prisoner in the pillory outside Nantwich Museum, and continue with a battle fought by members of the Sealed Knot on Mill Island at 2pm.
Houseplant Appreciation Day
Country Living Magazine informs us that today, 10th January, is Houseplant Appreciation Day.
So, to get into the spirit of the day, why not let your houseplant/s know how you feel. Perhaps take them for a walk in a special woodland that you know and give them a break from their usual spot in the house. Feel free to send in your photo appreciating your houseplant.
