On Sunday 10th August the final rounds of this competition were held at Vardre Deganwy. It started with the Round of 16 followed by the Quarter and Semi-Finals, and then the Final was held between Steve Lawley and Mike Pritchard. Mike Pritchard was the overall winner and was presented with the Alan & Geraint Jones Memorial Cup. Well played to everyone and thanks to the family for this annual competition. Please check back in a couple of days for a few more photos from the day.

For Members not involved in the Clwydian League, just to let you know that today the green will be in use by our Clwydian ‘B’ & ‘C’ Teams from approximately 9:00am to 6:00pm (if the green remains very dry). This year the league has included the occasional league match on a Friday as well as on a Tuesday due to the number of teams in each division. Do go along and give your support if you have some free time on your hands and the green will be available from 6:00pm onwards (possibly a bit earlier).

In the graveyard of St. Michael’s Church in Abergele (just behind the bowling green) is a solitary stone known as The Penitential Stone. Sinners circa 17th Century had to do penance by standing beside the stone, dressed in white, beseeching the congregation for mercy as they entered and left the church. If you know a Sinner today who is prepared to stand on the stone to beg for mercy then you too can take a photo like the one that follows:-
