The Welsh Crown Green Bowling Association’s (WCGBA) Beginner’s Competition, sponsored by NFU Llandudno, will be played on Sunday 31 August at Llandudno Oval. All day. Four of our members will be playing: Ian Eardley; Debs & Phil Rasmussen; and, Colin Burgess. Good luck all and do pop along to give them your support if you get the chance.
Bird Talk

Not found in built-up areas, but usually out in the open, the peacock is easily recognisable by its tail-feathers, whether those feathers are folded away or on display (see the two photographs above). Have you ever heard their vocalisations during the day? Different peacock vocalisations mean different things. The birds might let out an innocent squawk when entering their habitat to announce their presence or sound a loud alarm to warn others of predators. Peacocks are especially vocal during mating season, and their mating call sounds like a high-pitched hooting.
Want to see one? Well, you haven’t got far to go. For example, just visit Gwydir Castle near Llanwrst.
Annual General Meeting 2025
Message from the Club Secretary Elaine Beech to all Members:-
The 2025 AGM for Vardre Deganwy Bowling Club will be held on Friday 28th November at 2pm in the Main Hall at the Craig y Don Community Centre in Queens Road LL30 1TE.
As the leagues’ seasons are coming to an end, the nomination sheets for the Elections of Officers and other members of the Club Committee are now on the notice board at the Club.
This is your opportunity to have a say in who runs your Club so please place your nominations as soon as you can, and encourage your fellow team members and other members to do so.
You’ll see that there are optimistically 2 sets of boxes for each position so you never know, the meeting may include some ‘elections by ballot’.

Please let me know if you will be attending on Thursday 28th August. Further sessions will be arranged in the future so that all Club Members have the opportunity to attend a session. Thank you.
At 11:15am, there will be presentation of a cheque for £600.00 to the Wales Air Ambulance which is the total amount raised at the charity event held at the club last month. The club worked very hard to raise the money at our charity event and we are very grateful to you for your support. ALL members are very welcome to attend. Looking forward to seeing you ALL.
North Wales Coast League
Nearly There
Congratulations to both our ‘A’ & ‘B’ Teams in the Clwydian League. Both Captain Shan Eccles’ and Captain Carol Barrington’s teams won their Semi-Final Cup matches yesterday in their respective Divisions. The Final matches will be held on Friday 5th September (venue To Be Confirmed). These excellent wins underline the strong standing that both teams have this season as they are both, coincidentally, in 2nd place in their Divisions, i.e. the ‘A’ in the ‘A’ and the ‘B’ in the ‘B’.
Commiserations to our ‘D’ Team that was two players down from the outset of their Semi-Final, meaning the points difference was just a bit too much to overcome. This was, however, an impressive achievement for our ‘D’ Team as the team was only formed at the start of this season, so extra kudos to their Captain Sue Kirkham and all her players.
Well played to everyone in all our three teams, and good luck to our Finalists. The two venues will be confirmed as soon as possible. Spectators will be very welcome at the Finals to encourage the players, so please do go along to give them all your support if you’re ready, willing and able. Thank you.

Cup Semi-Finals Day Today
2:15pm Clwydian League Cup Competition Semi-Finals:
‘A’ Team (+30) v Fron Park (+40) at Dyserth Bowling Club.
‘B’ Team (+20) v East Parade ‘A’ (+30) at Rhuddlan Bowling Club.
‘D’ Team (+50) v Eirias Park (+50) at Mochdre Park Bowling Club.
Good luck to everyone involved. How good would it be for all 3-teams to reach the Final in their respective Division? It could happen. If you’d like to go and support any of our three team above, then the bowling green where each team is playing is also shown above.
Friendly Today
The next doubles friendly will be at Vardre Deganwy this afternoon versus Rhos-on-Sea. Please arrive by 1:30pm if you would like to play.
