Green Closed This Morning

Vital work is to be undertaken on the green this morning. Our maintenance team of 3-hard-working-boys would really value additional voluntary help. If you can help, please be at the green by 9:00am today.

HELP NEEDED ON Wednesday 7th June 2023. All Hands to the Pumps Please. GREEN CLOSURE.

This hot dry weather is very welcome to sun-worshiping-humans but, unless the bowling greens have appropriate care, we could lose them to damage during this time.

So, on Wednesday, the green maintenance team is asking for volunteers to help with crucial work on the green. CLICK HERE to read Ian’s explanation of the problem and the crucial voluntary help that is needed and please let him know if you can go along to help.

Palet (Bowls in Sheep’s Clothing?)

The French have a game called Palet. Ann and Rog introduced a few members of the club to this game where a master (jack) – a small cast iron disk – is thrown from a 5-metre distance onto a square, wooden board. Once it lands safely on the board, the two teams of two players then each have two larger cast iron disks (palet) to throw onto the board. The team landing their disk/s (palet) nearest to the master (jack) wins. Like bowls, it has co-ordination techniques that take time to hone.

Droning On?

Gareth Ellidge of “Welsh Skies by Gareth” has very kindly taken some photographs of our green using a drone. Here are a few taken in the late evening with a keen bowler out on the green. Gareth is a hobbyist and has many photographs of interesting landscapes in North Wales. Click Here to visit his Facebook Page which is a public page so, even if you aren’t a member of Facebook, you can view it.

High Scores

Welcome to the 31st May 2023 which just happens to be the 151st day of the year in the Gregorian calendar. Clint Eastwood and the late Prince Rainier III were both born on this day.
