Our Own Slave Tirade
Whilst most Club Members are dreaming of next season, our very own green volunteers have been sweating it out on the green. They were not playing bowls but were moving the sacks of top dressing around the edge of the green. Now it’s all there, it’s just waiting for Bobby, our visiting professional greenkeeper. Thanks from all the Members to Ian W & David L, Tommy, John B, Shan, Eddie & Mogsy, for their hard work yesterday and today. Jenny made a cameo appearance. Although everyone was off home when the camera arrived, proof of the hard work can be seen on David L’s hands, knees and toes:

Seeing Double
Chris is in the process of experimentation with his bowling delivery. In the following experiment, he sends both his bowls at the same time so that he only needs to crouch down once during each end rather than twice. In his next experiment, he will send one bowl immediately after the other, with the aim of achieving the same outcome of a single crouch.
News Just In From the Committee
Hot off the press from DaveH’s executive office is Newsletter 59. Packed full of interesting stuff and Dave’s humour (?!!! he’s on very good form).
P.S. Two kind Members of the Club have responded to Ian’s request for assistance at the green on Tuesday and Wednesday this week. If anyone else can help, please do contact Ian. You can use the Contact Us page on this website if you don’t have Ian’s contact details.
Calling All Members
Ian has supplied an interesting report on the work planned for the Green. Just Click Here to read it but, before you do that, he and David really need a couple more people to help them tomorrow (Tuesday) and Wednesday. So, if you have some spare time and could help move supplies and equipment round the green, please contact Ian asap and he will give you more details and timings.
Unofficially Ours
Steve R & Steve B have won the Unofficial “Keeping It All In Focus Cup 2023” by concentrating hard on performing their most worried & serious expressions whilst playing in an Official Cup Competition in September. All other players withdrew from this Unofficial Competition once they saw the high standard of their opposition.
The End (For 2023)
The rain has the last laugh of the season, keeping Members away from the green on the final day. An early end to the season means that a lot of work on the green can take place between now and next March so that the playing surface will be the very best it can be. Thanks again to Ian and David for looking after the green and to Tommy and Keith for maintenance.

Doreen braves the heavy rain to give us a front row view on the last day
WARNING: It is not the end of the season for the website so keep checking back every day as life continues despite no bowling!
Oh No – Not Already!
Unfortunately, it has arrived. Today is the last day of the Vardre Deganwy Bowling Club’s season. Make the most of today because you might also need to fit in a trip down to the Craig y Don Bowling Club (2pm-4pm) to sign up for their Winter Open Season just in case you want to bowl before the start of next season.
Up Hill and Down Dale
Now that the end of the bowling season is almost here, no doubt you will have been wondering how to fill those long, empty hours during the Autumn and Winter. Well, now you are so toned up from an active spring and summer, you might be considering competing in the Ultra Marathon on 13th October 2023 starting at the Village of Big Bear Lake, USA. Just a simple distance of 100-miles with an elevation gain of 5,181m and a lot of running over 7,000-feet (twice the height of Snowdon).
If you want to know more, then take a look at the UTMB website for all their competitions (Click Here).
