The Alan Jones Memorial Cup Competition was held on our green yesterday. Family members of Alan Jones were there to watch the 32 Entrants compete for the impressive Cup. Starting at 9am and finishing at 7pm, the ultimate winner was Gary Roberts who beat John Bailey. After he was presented with the Cup, Gary gave a much appreciated and heartfelt speech. Congratulations to Gary, the very well deserved Winner, and to John, the Runner-Up, and to DT Evans, the Referee who kept a careful eye on play throughout the day. Congratulations too for the Organisers and all the Competitors for a very entertaining day.
Gary Roberts, Winner of the Alan Jones Memorial Cup 2023, has a good grip on the very well-earned trophy
A few more photos from the event will be on the website later in the week so please keep checking back.
From 9:00am onwards today, the “Alan Jones Memorial Match” will be hosted at the Vardre Deganwy bowling green. The Competition will be on ALL DAY so come along to help or simply spectate.
Do you own cows or horses or sheep or a classic vehicle? Or maybe you have a dog instead. Whatever you enjoy then a visit to the Eglwysbach Show is for you. Treat your pet dog to a day out to watch the Dog Fun Show (on all day) and the Flyball Dog Demonstration. Sadly for you poultry competitors, Avian Influenza means there will be no Poultry Section this year. Click Here to visit their website for more details.
Although in yesterday’s post it looked like it wouldn’t happen, Mary did get everyone together for a game of musical chairs. She raises her hand to start the next round. Tension is high as Geoff prepares to remove the next chair.
Mary and Sylvia try to get a game of musical chairs going but not only is there no music (maybe next time folks) but everyone else is outside on the green.
Gwyneth and Clarice, on behalf of Club Members, give a long list of demands to DaveH, the Club Secretary, that includes: all ice creams in the freezer must have a chocolate coating; any bowler over 6′ tall must bowl whilst on their knees when playing a bowler who is 5′ 2″ in height or shorter in order to negate any perspective/view/reach advantage; and, all cushions must be 6-inches in depth with a waterproof cover so they can also be used in the rain.
No, not the internationally famous Monkees singing one of their best known songs, but perhaps almost as famous – it’s The Llandudno Town Band. The Band will be performing in the Bandstand on the Promenade every Sunday and Monday evening during the summer from 19:30 to 20:30 (up to, and including, Monday 28th August 2023). Click Here to visit their website.
But, before you go and see them tonight, why not pop along in the afternoon to the Vardre Deganwy bowling green to watch the Ladies Friendly versus Rhos-on-Sea Bowling Club. Play starts at 1:30pm.
Llandudno – can you hear the Llandudno Town Band on the Promenade Bandstand?
