Despite Ian seeming to be a bit quiet during January, he has been beavering away and he has provided us all with some updates (Click Here for the full update):
Have you seen or heard of Bowls Buddies? They are lighter and smaller bowls, made of polyurethane for children aged 4-years and older, and can be used indoors or out. The company has a variety of products to encourage learning in a fun way for schools, community groups and bowling clubs. Looks like good fun for adults too.

A little article appeared in the Pioneer newspaper in January to get us all thinking about the future. Have you ever thought about spending quality time on the Great Orme? Well, without the need for using a straight bat, Conwy County Borough Council (CCBC) has come up with the answer for you and/or your loved ones.
CCBC has been doing some digging in a section of the Great Orme cemetery and has found that the ground there can be dug to the required depth for burying cremated remains. Forty 25-year leases are now available to purchase by members of the public. Contact CCBC if you’re interested.

Did you take part in the RSPB’s Big Garden Bird Watch last weekend? Although the top 5 most seen birds in gardens remains the same in 2024 (The Big Garden Birdwatch 26th-28th January), numbers are once again down on the previous year (although survey results are still being submitted & counted).
In 2023, the RSPB stated that house sparrow numbers were down by 57% compared to the first Birdwatch in 1979. Also, they stated that we had lost 38 million birds from UK skies in the last 60 years.

This is the anniversary of a very important event. It was the debut on Detroit WXYZ radio station of the series “The Lone Ranger”, with the stirring notes of the William Tell Overture and a shout of “Hi-yo, Silver! Away!”
The Lone Ranger made a seemingly effortless transition from radio to motion pictures and television. The televised version of The Lone Ranger, starring Clayton Moore as the masked man, became ABC’s first big hit in the early 1950s. Remaining on the air until 1957, the program helped define the golden age of the TV Western and inspired dozens of imitators like The Range Rider, The Roy Rogers Show and The Adventures of Wild Bill Hickok.
