Measure for Measure
Maybe Shakespeare used this title because he was a crown green bowler himself. But maybe he didn’t have a Referee on hand to help him with his measuring. However, we are lucky enough to have Arthur Peake, Referee, amongst our ranks, and he very kindly provided training yesterday in the art of measuring in crown green bowls. Click Here for some photos that might well include something that you didn’t know about measuring.

Ladies V Gents Competition
This in-house friendly starts at 1:30pm on Thursday 17th April but please arrive by 1:00pm if you would like to take part.
The Social Team is organising a charity day to be held later in the season and have a shortlist of 3-charities to support and they would like members to select one to benefit from the club’s charity day. Members will be contacted by email from Sue the Club Secretary soon with further information and details on how to vote.
Sue also tells us that volunteers will be needed again this year for events such as the Conwy Bowls Festival and other competition hosting occasions. Many people stood up to be counted last year and it hoped that members will do the same again this year.
Volunteers are needed for the cleaning rota please or there will need to be an increase in membership fees to employ a cleaner.
Sue also reminds us that entries are still open for the Welsh Crown Green Bowling Association (WCGBA) Senior Welsh Merits and the Vets Welsh Merits so gird your loins and get your entry form in by 25th April.
First Flight
Emergency on the Green
All our best wishes from the club are with Phil Holmes, playing for Prestatyn Highbury, who collapsed on our green today. Gary Meaby was incredible as he worked on Phil until the ambulance service arrived. Shan Eccles successfully used the Club’s defibrillator so it proved to be a great asset to our Club (thanks to all the donors at our club who contributed to its purchase). With the 999 telephone assistant giving instructions and support over the phone, the first responder arrived on scene, with the ambulance only a few minutes behind, which was very quickly followed by the Air Ambulance. It was a very fast response from the medical services and our very grateful thanks also go to them. Our thoughts are with Phil and his wife and family, his friends and all his team and club mates from Prestatyn Highbury.
