Summer Solstice Today
Today will be the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere, and the 2024 Summer Solstice will occur at 21:50pm British Summer Time. So day and night today will be roughly equal in length. The Summer Solstice can occur between the 20th and 22nd June – this year it is on the 20th – when the Sun is directly above the Tropic of Cancer (Source: www.timeanddate.com).
Update
Apologies for no posts for a few days until my provider fixes my broadband problem. Perhaps service will resume on Thursday this week.

Trooping the Colour
Today is Trooping the Colour, the event to celebrate the official birthday of King Charles III. His actual birthday is in November but the official birthday is usually held in the summer months, although this year the weather tells us that we might still be stuck in November. Watch it from 10:30am on BBC1.
Reminders
Reminder 1: Volunteers are needed for the evening of 19th June 2024 to help with refreshments or measuring. The list is up in the Clubhouse so please add your name.
Reminder 2: The Colwyn Bowls Festival 2024 runs from Sunday 28th July until Friday 2nd August. They have had a huge number of entries for all competitions so there is a meeting next week, with all the local clubs that will be hosting one or more of the preliminary rounds of the competitions, to agree and finalise all the details so be prepared for more requests to help host some of those events. All North Wales Leagues have no matches that week in support of the event.
Reminder 3: We will need a new Treasurer in November so please consider your nomination for this role.
Friendly Day Today
Today’s Friendly is at Home versus Penrhyn New Hall. Arrive by 1:30pm to be paired up with a partner, and then the match commences at 2:00pm. Come along and enjoy yourselves. It’s a great way for less experienced players to play a game with someone who has more experience. It is also played in a relaxed and friendly competitive way.
1 + 1 = 2
Can you do the above sum? Can you also do subtractions? Then you are just the person that this Club will need after November, so please put your thinking cap on now and prepare to volunteer. Why? Well here’s a message from David L, Treasurer:
“After some 10-years as Treasurer, including a few years as Assistant Treasurer, I have decided not to continue after the Annual General Meeting (AGM) in November.”
“If anyone is interested in taking on this very important role then please contact me to discuss it in more detail. In addition, we will also need someone to Audit/Check the Annual Accounts in October this year. I look forward to hearing from you.” David L, Treasurer
