Dressed to Fly
Ian and support group helped our professional greenkeeper Bobby lay the top dressing on our green as the first work of the winter maintenance programme. Click Here to see some more photos from the day.
It doesn’t stop there from Ian. Tomorrow morning read Ian’s “Reflections” on the 2024 bowling season.
Wales in Bloom In Your Neighbourhood
One thing that might have passed members by is this year’s Club entry into the Wales in Bloom “In Your Neighbourhood” category. Once again the Club was awarded the “Outstanding” certificate thanks once more to Tommy R and his constant planting and tending to the flora around the green.
Message in a Bottle 2
On 4th January 2024, the post on this page informed you of the NASA Europa Clipper launch due to take place in October 2024. If you took advantage of their Message in a Bottle offer to have your name embedded in part of the spacecraft then, rest assured, with the successful launch of the spacecraft today, yours together with the other 2.6 million people who took up the offer, are safely on the 1.8 billion mile journey to Jupiter’s icy moon Europa. It is due to arrive and get into orbit around Europa in 5.5 years time. Your name will have been etched at the size just smaller than a human hair.
Help Today Please Members – Monday 14th October

😥Green Closes 5pm Today😴
Well, today’s the day. The end of the season is nigh and our green will take a holiday until next March. Although it will be resting, the green’s health will be checked on regularly and also carefully tended to by Bobby, Ian and David L, with (hopefully) some other kind volunteers to take some of the load. Thanks to Keith who, at very short notice, very generously helped Ian shift the bags of top dressing on Thursday, when it surprisingly arrived the day before it was due to be delivered.
Remember Ian’s plea a couple of days ago to members? If you can give a helping hand on Monday 14th October, which also happens to be the anniversary of the Battle of Hastings in 1066 (not that there’s any connection), tea and biscuits will be available.
