I don’t know about everyone else, but this is my fondest memory of the day from the Final Friendly of the Season on 14th October:-

Green Closes Until 2022 Season

The Escape Tunnel is discovered

The party’s over! The green closed at 5:00pm today but it will reopen again in 2022. However, the website will continue on, unaffected by the weather (unlike the green maintenance).

We are all grateful to our volunteer greenkeepers for tending to the green’s needs all year round. I’m sure the rumour that they will be turning it into an ice rink during the winter is nothing but a rumour.

Remember that from January 2022, the Membership Year will run from 1st January to 31st December so put a reminder in your diary to pay the fee in January. The picture (above) is just a reminder of what you will be missing over the next few months and yet it is also something to look forward to in 2022.

TOP PERFORMANCES

The last competition of the season on 14th October, where the jockeying for position in the Spider, and the fighting for points in the games, gave us three winners who all went home with a prize. Click here to see some of the photographs from the day. (More to follow over the next few days).

Dave H wanted to know what was happening on the green today so he was checking the Club’s website for information. It’s a great way of keeping up to date with what’s going on.

In the meantime, outside the pavilion where Dave H was sitting, the Final Friendly of the Season today was well underway. The victors on this special day were Rhona, who had the highest score of the ladies, and David RJ who was the winner for the gentlemen. Congratulations all round. News about the Spider tomorrow morning.

The 955th

Today, 14th October 2021, is the 955th Anniversary of the Battle of Hastings. However, there will be no need to re-enact this on the bowling green this afternoon at the Final Friendly of the Season. Enjoy the day – be there by 1:30pm – and look forward to the special “Spider” event.

Final Friendly of the Season – Reminder

Just a reminder about Thursday’s Competition (1:30pm 14th October 2021):

This will be the last Friendly competition of the season. We will hold the regular 4-people per team game but there will be an additional challenge called the “Spider”. So please bring £1 with you, as you did last week, because there will be a Cash Prize for the winner of this competition. Dave H
