What? Really!

Our Chairman, David RJ, sets himself to perform cartwheels right across the green at Rhos Park, as the opening entertainment for last week’s Cup Final between our Wednesday ‘B’ Team and Min y Don. Sadly, no photos of his performance, just this one:

Poster Boys

What do you think should be written on the poster fixed to the fence to reflect the scene, or the possible conversation, at the front of the photo? How about this …….

Gwyn to Bill and Tommy, “Why is an elephant like a wheelbarrow?”

Bill and Tommy in unison, “We don’t know. Why is it Gwyn?”.

Gwyn, “Because an elephant can’t climb a tree”.

Proverbial Herding of Cats

Clarice, the Acting Captain, tries her best to pull in her team for a photo. The Team in the Final from Left to Right: Tom C; John B; Carol B; John P; Elaine: Jenny (in hiding); Clarice; Esther; Gwyneth; but, where’s Gwyn E?

Laws of the Game #13

In response to a couple of questions earlier this week, please note the added bold type in the two laws shown below from the BCGBA Laws of the Game 2022.

5.7       A player may retain possession of the footer until that player’s bowl has ceased running. If a player has taken up the footer after playing a bowl, which for any reason has to be replayed, or if the footer is accidentally displaced during an end, it shall be replaced as nearly as possible in its former position.

6.4       A player must not attempt to affect the running of any bowl, nor follow it up in such a manner as to obstruct the view of the opponent. For a first offence, involving the player’s own bowl, that bowl shall be forfeited.  In the case of a further offence, the game shall be awarded to the opponent(s).  The offender(s) to receive no further score and the opponent(s) to receive the maximum score.

Ladies Rose Bowl Winner

This annual event took place yesterday with the First Round followed by the Quarter then Semi-Finals, with the Final also held on the same day. Our very own Carol and Shan battled it out and, with the score at 20-Across, they shook hands and played the final (and somewhat dramatic) end. Congratulations to Carol B, the ultimate Winner. Mary Hughes, President of the Club, presented Carol with the Rose Bowl Trophy. With a little cameo appearance from the club stool acting as the plinth for the trophy. Click Here for photos.

Ladies Rose Bowl Competition Today at Vardre Deganwy

Good luck to all of today’s participants who are competing for the lovely Rose Bowl trophy. The competition is between individuals from four local clubs. Competitors to arrive by 10:00am and play starts at 10:30am.

B Team Final Finale

Vardre Deganwy’ ‘B’ Team members all played their hearts out last night but were up against the Division leaders Min y Don. Clarice was Captain whilst Marina recuperated at home. Get well soon Marina but be reassured that your team members performed valiantly. Click Here for photos. Congratulations to all involved and, of course, to the ultimate winners Min y Don.

P.S. “Lots of thanks from the whole team to the many fellow Vardre members who came along to support us. We may not have won the match but, once again we probably broke the attendance record for the most supporters at one of these finals.”
