Eat? Bowl? Shop? Ride? So?
If you want to do any of the above (although the final one should really read: Sew?) then our Social Committee has ALL the answers for you. All you have to do is communicate with them, via the very handy, non-digitised, sheets of paper (remember them?) pinned neatly on the noticeboard in the Clubhouse. Life couldn’t be easier! They are doing all the planning, you just have to let them know you want to participate then turn up and enjoy yourselves.
Quality

Hazel played very well in the Colwyn & Llandudno Merits for our ‘B’ Team yesterday at St. Asaph, winning a great match in the 1st round but just losing out in the 2nd. But what’s this? Hazel and David Leech both took part in the League Merits yesterday but why is he looking so pink? Meanwhile, at Craig y Don, David Jones represented our ‘A’ Team in the Merits.

A Few Thingys
- Next Wednesday 13th September at 12 noon, JohnF and Sean will take part in the Final of the Alpha Trophy. Spectators welcome.
- Details of the Winter Bowling Season at Craig y Don are on the noticeboard – £30.00.
- The End of Season Lunch will be held at The Manor on Wednesday 11th October. The menu choices, plus the sign-up sheet, are on on the noticeboard in the Clubhouse.
- Club members are representing our Club in two of the Colwyn & Llandudno League Merits being held today. Merits are at: Craig y Don where ‘A’ Team rep David Jones will play; and, the ‘B’ Team rep Hazel Leech will play at St. Asaph.
Cancellations Rolling In
Due to the upsurge in covid this week, the Club has decided not to send representatives to the following Merits/Competitions:
- Our Vale of Clwyd Merits (JohnF & Sylvia) @ East Parade 10th Sept:
- The Walled Towns Competition at Caernarfon (team captains) 10th Sept;
- U3a/New to Bowls Coaching on Monday morning 11th Sept.
Our Colwyn & Llandudno League Merits at Craig y Don ‘A’ Team representative David Jones will participate tomorrow (Sunday); and our ‘B’ Team representative Hazel will participate in the Merits at St. Asaph. The Ladies Friendly at Rhos on Sea is still on for Monday afternoon.
TAKE A TEST PLEASE PEOPLE. If you test positive, just stay at home and get well. More updates to be added here (if there are any).

Should We Stay or Should We Go?
With the final games of the Colwyn and Llandudno League played on Wednesday night 6th September, our ‘B’ Team was at Home.

‘B’ Team Supreme
Our fabulous ‘B’ Team won the Clywdian League Division ‘C’ Title yesterday, and they did it with a very good 7:5 Away win, when they just needed 3-game wins to secure the Title. They finished 12-points ahead of the 2nd placed team. Congratulations to all.
Our ‘C’ Team achieved something that is perhaps quite rare, they reached exactly the same position in 2023 as they did in 2022 – their very first year; with exactly the same number of wins; and, exactly the same number of points; and, with exactly the same averages aggregate.
Our ‘A’ Team still has another match to play and that will be Away next Tuesday. However, their place in the ‘A’ Division is already assured again for the fifth consecutive year.

A Painting Competition?
No, not a Painting Competition, sorry to disappoint, but a new competition was invented on our green on Sunday – the Pointing Competition. Whilst Kath and Steve hold back before showing their techniques to the others, Rog, Hazel, JohnF and Bunty go straight in with their best ones. Whilst JohnF, Hazel and Rog go for the single finger style, Bunty wades in with a strong two-hander, i.e. a single finger-point on one hand but also using a prop (the marker board) in the other.
