An anagram? Quell zat coat? Maybe not. Quetzalcoatl, one of the major Gods of the Aztecs, created humans by sprinkling bones from the dead with his blood. He was also lord of knowledge, god of the wind and the zodiac, vegetation and the arts. He was compassionate who taught peace and was a force for good. Latest Update
Ian, on behalf of the Club’s maintenance team, has sent us an update on a few issues. To read his update in full Click Here. Main points are:-
- 1st: Opening of the green for 2024 will now take place on Saturday 23rd March and not 16th March as previously planned.
- 2nd: The green is still too wet to play bowls and the work on installation of the new kitchen by our volunteers will not be completed until next week.
- 3rd: The clubhouse will need a thorough clean next week plus some tidying of accumulated rubbish so additional help would be very welcome.
- 4th: Some of the cupboards from the old kitchen are available to members if you’d like them for your garage, for example. They can be collected asap from the “Away Shelter” free of charge.

It’s a Short Stretch
Today is the start of the 7-day countdown to the opening day of the 2024 Season. Keep up your preparations so that you can launch yourselves straight into a game. Meanwhile, our volunteers & Bobby have cared for the green throughout the off-season and a new kitchen is emerging in the clubhouse. So, a new look awaits members next week.
Spare Time
If you have some time to give to support local groups then take a look at the Community and Voluntary Support Conwy (CVSC) website where you can either learn about volunteering opportunities and/or advertise volunteering opportunities.
In addition, you could take a look at the Reach Volunteering website, especially if you are interested in taking on a role such as Trustee of a charity.
Remember that Vardre Deganwy Bowling Club always welcomes volunteers to help with the many things that make a successful club. Many members give a lot of hours to the club but there’s always room for more help. Thanks everyone.
