Shan Eccles’ art exhibition at the Gŵyl Beaumaris Arts Festival 2021 opened today and is on until end of play on Sunday, 21st November 2021. Here are some pictures with some recognisable (Vardre-associated) attendees but, if you want to see all of Shan’s marvellous art, do try and get to the Beaumaris Leisure Centre to see it all for yourself. John Mitchell and Anthony Hose Opened the Event, making superb speeches, followed by Shan whose speech was absolute perfection for a rookie.

Swash and Go

A familiar sight on Llandudno shore

There are two different types of waves – constructive and destructive. They can affect the coastline in different ways. When a wave reaches the shore, the water that rushes up the beach is known as the swash. The water that flows back towards the sea is known as the backwash. The energy of the swash and backwash determine the type of wave.

Art Exhibition Opening: Shan Eccles

At 2:30 pm on Friday 19th November 2021, the event will be opened by the Mayor. Shan will be the “Artist in Residence” over all 3-days of the Festival with her works on display in the Centre, so do pop along to give her your support at anytime during the 3-days and to see her full Exhibition.

Today – 16th November 2021 – is the International Day of Tolerance

The United Nations introduced this Day in 1995 and, in their ‘Declaration of Principles on Tolerance’, stated their Resolve “to take all positive measures necessary to promote tolerance in our societies, because tolerance is not only a cherished principle, but also a necessity for peace and for the economic and social advancement of all people.”

“Tolerance is necessary between individuals and at the family and community levels. Tolerance promotion and the shaping of attitudes of openness, mutual listening and solidarity should take place in schools and universities and through non-formal education, at home and in the workplace.”
