Occasional Item #10 Rules of the Game
9.9 If, during the course of a game, it becomes so dark that the jack cannot be seen distinctly from the footer, the player may request to have a light exhibited at the jack, or may appeal to the Referee, whose decision shall be final, for the game to be suspended.
9.10 In the event of a suspension owing to the above cause or any other unforeseen circumstances, the points scored by each player shall stand and the position of the jack shall be marked. Ends should be completed if possible, games being restarted from an agreed point as near as possible to where the jack lay at the last end played.

Beach Bowls
Even when you are on a beach holiday with your family, you can keep up your bowls practice by playing Beach Bowls. This is similar to French Boules but you use a beach pebble as the target and each player uses three other pebbles to throw towards the jack in order to be the nearest. As in the real game of boules and bowls, you will need someone to umpire to resolve disagreements!

The 15th January 2022 was the 200th Anniversary of the establishment of HM Coastguard to look after the shores around the UK, to search, rescue and save. Locally, they have a team in Llandudno. If you are a keen listener to the daily Shipping Forecast on the radio (and who isn’t?), you will also know that the Great Orme always gets a mention in the Inshore Waters and Wind Forecast.
