Friendly Thursday and a Saturday Spar

Two events coming up over the long Jubilee Bank Holiday Weekend:

  • Thursday 2nd June: Dave Holland says, “Just to let you know that there will be a club competition Friendly game this coming Thursday.  We know it’s the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations but she specifically asked that we organise something as it was her who put the Crown in Crown Green Bowling. So please turn up no later than 1:30pm so we can organise the teams. £1 will get you a great afternoon of fun, tea, biscuits and the possibility of a royal visit.
  • Saturday 4th June: Ian Wilson says, “Both A and B teams have byes next Saturday (June 4th) and so both squads will take part in an event commencing at 1:30pm at the Vardre green”.

A Riddle

Question: Why is “I” the luckiest of all the vowels?

Answer: Because it is the centre of bliss, while “E” is in hell and all the others are in purgatory.

VIP

There is a very important person who is a vital part of the U3A coaching team on Monday mornings but is very camera shy. She arrives quietly, organises the kitchen, ensures everyone gets a cup of tea or coffee and biscuits halfway through the session, clears up after the break and then quietly disappears into the day whilst everyone is back out on the green for the second part of the session. Thank you Kate for all your help and support. We couldn’t do it without you.

An Unusual Grand Slam

Last night our ‘A’ and ‘B’ Teams in the Colwyn and Llandudno District League Cup Competition Quarter Finals defeated both the ‘A’ and ‘B’ Teams of Penrhyn New Hall. This followed a win for the ‘B’ Team in the previous round versus the Penrhyn New Hall ‘C’ Team. This must be a grand slam of victories!

A Clean Sweep

All 3 of our teams had a win in yesterday’s Clwydian League Divisions. Well played to everyone. The ‘B’ Team sits in 2nd place in their Division and are only surpassed at present by a team whose top 5-players are in the top-10 positions in the Division averages.

Tonight there will be Cup Competition knock-out matches for teams in the Colwyn and Llandudno Bowling League. The ‘A’ Team will play Penrhyn New Hall ‘A’ at Craig y Don bowling green and the ‘B’ Team will play Penrhyn New Hall ‘B’ at Rhos Park. Do come along and give them your support if you can.
