The Well Seasoned

The Monday morning coaching sessions were very well attended this year with everyone making excellent progress week-on-week. Congratulations to everyone and welcome to the many who joined the Club so that they can continue to build on their progress and get full enjoyment from crown green bowling. Wednesday Merits

Elaine

Another day of competition yesterday with matches held for the Colwyn and Llandudno League at Vardre Deganwy bowling green and Min y Don bowling green. Our ‘A’ team rep, Diane, and our ‘B’ Team rep, Elaine, played in the rain but luckily it was not a heavier downpour (until later). Many thanks to the supporters who turned up to encourage the players.

Support Team: David L; Shan; Elaine; Bill; Eddie; Hazel.

The President’s Day for the League will be held on Sunday 18th September 2022 at Mochdre bowling club, i.e. the Club of the current President. The final rounds of the above competition will be held with prize-giving for the competition and for all four of the Divisions in the League. The event will start at 2:00pm (presumably).

Saturday Merits

Bill
Steve

Bill, our ‘A’ team rep, and Steve, our ‘B’ Team rep, in yesterday’s North Wales Coast Merits Competition. It was a long day but many congratulations to both, and especially to Steve who won his way through to a second game. The Final rounds will be held on President’s Day at Conwy bowling club on the 17th September 2022.

Also at the event was David J, representing Mochdre ‘A’ on this particular occasion:

Also there on the day, David J (Left) and Alun J (Right) with their Dad

P.S. As Events are coming thick and fast in September, and into October, a backlog of photos is building up but keep checking back to the Home Page over the coming days/weeks.

HM Queen Elizabeth II 1926-2022

Thursday 8th September 2022. A very sad day. Deepest Condolences and very grateful thanks for Queen Elizabeth II’s reign over us. A unique and highly respected figurehead in the UK and around the world.

Thank you ma’am.

We will never forget.

Long live the King. God save the King.

“We Are the Champions”

Gary

The final night of the Colwyn and Llandudno League was exciting, with individual places in the aggregates changing minute by minute as the final matches across the four divisions took place. It was a great time to celebrate when our Vardre Deganwy ‘A’ Team won the Division ‘B’ title, soundly beating their last opponents, Mochdre ‘A’, by 10:2 points. The team also ended the season with a 21-point lead over the second placed team – St. Asaph. Tommy R, the Captain, then gave every member of the team a trophy in recognition of their excellent display throughout the season. Thanks Tommy – congratulations to you too.

Ann
Doreen

And to the two most supportive people during the whole season, the team would like to thank both Ann and Doreen for marking, cheering and simply being there for everyone in the team. We couldn’t have done it without you – our mascots!

Well done too to the Vardre Deganwy ‘B’ Team that consolidated its position in Division ‘C’. Well played to everyone and special thanks and congratulations to their Captain Marina.

Truffle Hunting

Keith and Kath hoped they had dug up valuable truffles on the green but, once they had cleaned them off, they were disappointed to discover they were just more run-of-the-mill crown green bowls.

Friendly and Even Friendlier Help Needed
