Carol Barrington, with the other league team of officials – Sue Roberts, Di Anne Hog, Judy Hughes with Sue Vayro – hosted yesterday’s Merits Finals. Our Club’s ‘A’ & ‘B’ Team Representatives, Diane Lea and Gay Hicdonmez, both won their Quarter Final matches but lost out in the Semi-Finals. The ‘A’ Division winner was Hazel Carr from Kinmel Bay who defeated Hazel Griffiths from Dyserth. The ‘B’ Division winner was Sian Gotts from Denbigh who defeated Carol Ellis from East Parade.
Carol presented all the awards to: the winners & runners-up on the day; the winners and runners up of the division aggregates that included Diane Lea; the Pairs Competition winners and runners-up; the winners of the ‘B’ Division trophy; but, she was on the receiving end of the ‘A’ Division Champions Trophy (as the Captain of the winning Vardre Deganwy ‘A’ Team) that was presented to her by Di Ann Hog, League Treasurer.
The event was most beautifully hosted by a team of Club Members who had prepared all sorts of food for the event and who worked tirelessly through the whole day cooking burgers and bacon for the ravenous hoard of spectators. The day went very smoothly thanks to their so generously giving of their time and skills. It wouldn’t have worked without you all. That, of course, includes the maintenance team in preparing the green and gardening around the premises. Thank you all for such a magnificent team effort.
Some photos of the day will appear on the website soon, but here’s just a sample from the day. Please keep checking back.
