Archetypal Symbols

Symbolism has appeared in every human culture. The belief that there are patterns or tendencies organising nature and human experience. For instance, the role of a Jester is to act as a mirror in which those in authority see their own foolishness. Shakespeare knew how to use riddles and humour, indirectly offering them insight.

Confucious is said to have asserted that, “Signs and symbols rule the world, not words or laws.”
