DOUBLES FRIENDLY: We now have 8 members wishing to play in our first Doubles Friendly at Dwygyfylchi next Thursday (6th April). In order for any members to get over to Rhyl for the opening Vale of Clwyd League match, the friendly starts at 1-30pm and will finish at 4-00pm as we have arranged timed games, with each couple bowling for 90 minutes (2 games x 45 mins). We could possibly do with another 4 players to have a minimum of 6 pairs. Our hosts will provide refreshments but ask if we may contribute via their football card, and they are hoping the Golf Club bar is available after the match.
SPRING PAIRS: Next on the Social bowling calendar is the Spring Pairs on Sunday April 16th, starting at 1:30pm and completed by 5:00pm. You may select your own partner for this event, but individual handicaps come into play as well as timed games (& reduced games). It is a knock-out format but losing pairs go into a plate competition and all entrants are again guaranteed at least 3 games. £1 entry which includes tea/coffee/biscuits & a limit of 32 members (16 pairs) – closing date of Sat April 15th @ 5:00pm.
LADIES FRIENDLIES AND THE 1ST LADIES VERSUS GENTS MATCH: On 17th April, the day after the Spring Pairs, the Ladies host Llandudno Oval at 1:30pm, and the following week travel to Rhos on Sea (24th) for a 2nd friendly. Our male members MUST have known about this hectic schedule as pencilled in for Thursday April 20th is the first Ladies v Gents encounter of the season. This year this competition will be run on a kind of “test match” format with further matches arranged later in the season, the idea being that we compete in singles, doubles and possibly triples over the year.
IF there is room, posters advertising all events will be displayed on the notice-boards inside the Clubhouse. Ian
