The Royal Photographic Society, based in Bristol, is just one of the many organisations around the world that is trying to set guidelines and rules around the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI). But there’s still a long way to go for everyone. Will we ever need guidance in relation to AI in the crown green bowling world? Rest assured, our Club photos are not AI generated, so what you see is what we’ve got!

“take pART” at Venue Cymru
take pART returns to Venue Cymru for 13th & 14th January 2024. A range of arts, literature and science events and workshops. If you’re a fan of the BBC TV Series “Casualty”, then one of these events is definitely for you. (Plus that one is FREE. What more could you ask for?). The Casualty event is a demonstration of “Special Effects and Prosthetics”. So you can see how they can turn an actor into a very damaged and/or poorly person. Click Here for more details on this particular demonstration then take a look at their other events and workshops for the weekend.
Vale of Clwyd
The Vale of Clwyd Midweek Bowling League is ahead of the game in 2024! The league has already published the weekly matches for all four divisions. Click Here to take a look and remember to pop your name on the list in the clubhouse if you want to be considered for joining the team. Our team won promotion last year, in its first entry into the league, and so this year will be playing in the ‘C’ Division and it will again be Captained by Nigel with Bunty as Vice Captain.

Just a reminder from the Committee that the 2024 Season’s Membership Subscription is due before 1st March. As Dave H reminds us, the earlier you pay your Subs, the easier it will be for the Team Captains to select their teams for this year. Click Here for details about how to pay.
News Just in from the Committee
Here it is – it’s Newsletter 61. It might seem like a long time since the last one but it was only 2-months ago. Although you might think that not much happens at a crown green bowling club during the winter, you’d be wrong, as Dave H proves in his latest newsletter for the Club. The usual warnings around Dave H’s humour apply.
🎶 Uh-Huh 🎶
The fans amongst you will already know that today is the anniversary of the birth of Elvis Aron Presley – 8th January 1935. Click Here to find out 7-things that you might not know about the late entertainer.

As mentioned here earlier in the week, the ITV drama about the sub-postmasters versus the Post Office, that was followed by a documentary about the issue, has clarified for all how this has been construed as ““one of the biggest miscarriages of justice in British history“. Alan Bates, former sub-postmaster in Craig-y-Don, has co-ordinated and led an incredible campaign. Click Here to catch up with the News about the Met’s ongoing investigation into potential fraud regarding monies that the Post Office recovered from sub-postmasters as a result of prosecutions.

Escape the Club!?
Our Social Committee might like to consider this suggestion as an outing for Club Members in 2024. Mental gymnastics to keep everyone trim before next season – does that sound like a good idea? You decide. Click Here to Escape from here and find out more.
Subs on the Bench?

David Leech, our Treasurer, would like to remind members that 2024 Subscriptions are due between now and 1st March. Click Here for more details.
