So, what are the stories this season for our 4-teams in each of the 4-divisions in the Clwydian League?
- In yesterday’s final match of the season, our ‘A’ Team vanquished St. Asaph, the team challenging us for 2nd place in the ‘A’ Division. So, by the end of the match, with 7-winners, we finished a total of 12-points ahead of them, solidifying our 2nd place/Runners-Up spot. Rhos Park ‘A’, as usual, was in 1st place. Mark Ball topped our team’s individual averages.
- Our ‘B’ Team was sitting in 2nd place in the ‘B’ Division for a while during the season but were eventually overtaken by Ruthin, despite an outside chance of our team sneaking back into 2nd place on the final day yesterday. Mochdre Park ‘A’ was in 1st place. Neal Ridyard topped our team’s individual averages.
- Our ‘C’ Team finished 5th in the ‘C’ Division with Clarice sitting top of the team’s individual averages. Last year our ‘C’ Team finished 3rd in the ‘D’ Division, so an unexpected promotion to the ‘C’ Division this year, resulting in 5th place, is very creditable to all the players. Penrhyn New Hall finished in 1st place.
- Our newly formed ‘D’ Team, in the ‘D’ Division, finished in 9th place, with 10-wins in total, having earned 83-points more than the last placed team in the Division. Abergele ‘D’ finished in 1st place. Phil Rasmusson topped our team’s individual averages.
Congratulations to all players, in all teams, and to the team captain of each team. And many thanks to all the friends, family and other supporters who turned up at matches to encourage and help.
The Merits Qualifiers for the Clwydian League take place in 4-locations on 26th September with 2-players from each team able to enter. President’s Day and the Finals will be held on Tuesday 30th September at Old Colwyn.
