In the graveyard of St. Michael’s Church in Abergele (just behind the bowling green) is a solitary stone known as The Penitential Stone. Sinners circa 17th Century had to do penance by standing beside the stone, dressed in white, beseeching the congregation for mercy as they entered and left the church.
