Looking for something to do later this month? The 25th January is when The Battle of Nantwich commemorates ‘Holly Holy Day’ – January 25, 1644 – when the Roundheads defeated the Cavaliers in a fierce Civil War clash. The day’s festivities begin at 10am with morris dancers, tours and exhibitions, and a demonstration of muskets, pikes and drums in the town centre, with the opportunity to throw cabbage leaves at an unfortunate prisoner in the pillory outside Nantwich Museum, and continue with a battle fought by members of the Sealed Knot on Mill Island at 2pm.
