Did you take part in the RSPB’s Big Garden Bird Watch last weekend? Although the top 5 most seen birds in gardens remains the same in 2024 (The Big Garden Birdwatch 26th-28th January), numbers are once again down on the previous year (although survey results are still being submitted & counted).
In 2023, the RSPB stated that house sparrow numbers were down by 57% compared to the first Birdwatch in 1979. Also, they stated that we had lost 38 million birds from UK skies in the last 60 years.
