We had an enjoyable afternoon of bowls! We didn’t win the match, but it was 4 games all at one point and Penrhyn New Hall won the aggregate by 11. It was indeed an afternoon of great “comebacks”: the following team members were first past the finishing post after being down.
*it was close between Margaret and her opponent’s score until the sixteenth end and by the twentieth end she was 8:15 down, but she came back to win 21:17
*Norman won from being 13:19 down, winning 21:19.
*Eleanor and Marc also won their games- well done!
*Beryl (19) and Lynn F (17) had very good, close games against very tough opponents. The games could easily have gone the other way.
*Roger came back from 6:12 down to 15:16, only to just miss out at the last few ends, despite a brilliant wood at the penultimate end.
** the most spectacular “comeback kid” was Lynn B who was down 16 “without” at one point, only to be determined and score 13.
All team members had great, competitive games with good scores. It really showed our tenacity and team spirit!
Thanks very much to Tudor, Ken and Vera for keeping the scores and to Henry for measuring. Marc and Henry were very organised and decided which half of the green was their responsibility.
It was nice to see Vera back with us and looking so fit and well.
We welcome Jenny Roberts to Vardre’s happy “Family” and hope she will enjoy playing bowls with us.
We look forward to seeing Ian Savage returning from his travels in Peru. Welcome home Ian!
Yes, we had a very pleasant day – good company, lovely weather and healthy competition.
All team members played an important part in making my first “home game” as “Acting Captain” a very memorable one for me – diolch yn fawr iawn / thank you very much.
Neither “A” nor “B” teams have games next Saturday (21st). However, we hope to have a “social” game at Vardre, so please come along 1.45 for 2 pm start. Cakes will be provided and ice cream for sale – let’s hope for sunshine!
All the best to those who are going on holiday – have a great time!
